Hero Perspective - finally full control and view of heroes
Introduce a new control over heroes called hero perspective.
Works two ways
Dual Control or Toggle
In Dual Control a small icon is selected (on/off switch) on a hero bringing up a new re-sizable window.
This window would be a full new point of view for the hero with skill bar of hero.
Effects for hero as follows while mode is on
-Operated by mouse when hovered over the window
-Automation Disabled no autofollow, no auto skills, no auto attack, no flags etc
-Eligible for drops which go to the main character inventory
-Can take quests for main character, accept rewards, open chests, pick up drops, zone etc
-Switch can be turned back off and hero goes back to original mode and window closed
In Toggle mode a small icon is selected (on/off switch) on a hero replacing the main view to your heroes view and heroes skill-bar.
Effects as follows while mode is on
-Controls like it was your main character
-Automation Disabled no auto-follow, no auto skills, no auto attack, no flags etc
-Eligible for drops which go to the main character inventory
-Can take quests for main character, accept rewards, open chests, pick up drops, zone etc
-Main character acts like a hero (no drops, automated skill usage, auto-follow, follows a new main character flag etc)
-Pressing the icon toggles back to main character control and reverts the view and changes

This would basically allow people to create speed clears with heroes....not at the same speed but it would create an easier way to farm elite areas through control of other heroes. Doesn't mean this is a good idea though. This would just create more opportunities for speed clears with only heroes. Speed clear groups are pretty much the only groups left for elite areas now, i cant imagine what would happen if this was implemented. /notsigned

So..I switch places with my hero?
/quote/Outerworld/Quote/
I'd love to be able to switch to my heros without spawning monsters and run thru zone unharmed. Hey, we can even get titles on our heroes! It'd make a whole new Guild Wars!

Was this made on Aprils fools day?
Honestly though. Like what was said before, this is pointless.
Aside from seeing through the heros Eyes. you can already manage heros fine. The player operating them is the one at fault if there having difficulty.

Nothing is stopping you from doing this now.......whats the problem?

NPC stands for "Non-Player Character"
Heros are NPCs
Therefore, you should not be able to play as them.

"BUT WHAT ABOUT COSTUME BRAWL!!!??!11!??!"
In Costume brawl, it is just that, a costume. And a holiday PvP format has no purpose being discussed in this thread so don't bring it up.

quoted for truth.
Yet another suggestion from a player that thinks this game needs to be made easier than it already is.

This update would fix that! Now they would be PC stands for "Playable Character"
________________________________________________
Some example uses of this of the many
Start with Dual Mode
- Improved ability to run split tactics for areas such as Underworld, Dungeons etc
-Double the Drops for 2-man farm areas (at the cost of manual control of both)
-Better ability to 2-man farm for certain areas
Moving on Toggle Mode
-More fun for the casual player who say only has a few classes of characters
* Can play any class provided hero is unlocked with just one main character
* Can pug faster if their willing to toggle to a required profession of the pug
-Pugs can start faster for example pug wants to wait for a human monk but is ok with a hero mesmer so the mesmer adds a monk and toggles to it in game
-Forced melee classes can be taken over for nightfall missions given the bad ai
-More fun for the dedicated player with a main character focus.
* When vanquishing they can get bored after a while so they switch it up to another profession
* They want to do a certain farm but another profession is faster so they flag and toggle.
* They want to play other classes but not start over a new character
Well that's a good start but there are several more potential benefits too!

Yeah make heroes even easier to use! Better yet just remove the online aspect of PvE entirely.

After additional consideration I would also add the following changes....
Foe Spawns
Heroes will spawn foes like main character
Pve Skills
You will be able to add up to 3 pve skills to all heroes but there is a drawback
If the hero is not the toggle selected hero or the hero manually controlled in a window the pve skills are locked
If the main character is in automated mode due to toggling to a hero the main characters pve skills are locked
Thus only characters or heroes that are manually controlled can use pve skills. So only 3 pve skills per human player in toggle mode and 6 pve skills per human in dual mode but at the expense of manually controlling both characters (similar to whats available now if someone runs two characters in a mission with 2 accounts)

clearly you have put much thought into this...too much, in fact. Sounds to me like what you really want is a totally different game.

It rather sounds like you're just aiming for a way to make "two-man" farming activities easier, and stretching to find other "benefits" so that you can call it a suggestion for the general good.
But aside from questioning motives...
Heroes are already more than good enough as they are for the vast majority of PvE content in the game. We don't need stuff that really only benefits two-man (or should I say man+hero) farming builds. If you need a smarter or better-controlled hero in a particular situation, go get a human instead. ArenaNet explicitly said they didn't add additional flag controls because they wanted to leave better control/coordination for human teams to accomplish. I think the same concept applies here too.
Plus I just think the whole possess-your-hero/see-through-their-eyes is awkward. I play my character; heroes are just along for the ride.

GREAT IDEA
Norgu would get Asuran maxed and it would say
"Not too Fat"
Gwen's Norn would be "Slayer of Charr"
Koss would get "Sexmachine" for max sunspear and he'd powerthrust as emote

So you basically want some level of full control over all of your heroes, with how they move, target, act, and just about everything? Sorry, but GW is a game focused around one character, not all eight in your party. The fact that you can already order three members in your party to take specific orders on skills and stand in certain places just can be seen as three people in your party that trust you enough to faithfully follow certain suggestions that you make.

if anything they need to put in the other 4 buttons on the compass so you can flag your bottom heroes.

I'm not against taking over a hero, while your character is controlled by the AI. Granado Espada does that with the three characters you can control at the same time and it's wonderful. But we must remember that heroes have smaller aggro bubbles. If it's not possible to change the aggro bubbles so it gets bigger for the hero while you control them, and smaller for you characters when the AI takes over, then this can't be done.
I can't say I like that dual thing.
I will be happy enough if you could set a hero to follow someone else.
